Pop your essentials into your beautiful bridal bag

Your wedding day is arguably one of the most important days of your life. Keeping your hair and makeup looking fresh and fabulous throughout your wedding celebrations, is paramount. More often than not, the bride has their wedding hair and makeup done very early in the morning. However beautifully done, you will feel more confident knowing you have a little touch-up kit for any makeup/hair emergencies that may arise. Here’s my list of 6 items that you can pop in a little bag and hand to a bridesmaid. Call it ‘hair and makeup insurance’!

  1. Concealer

You’ve been given instructions from your Makeup Artist “ don’t swipe, just pat” when you’re wiping those happy tears away. In the moment, you forget. Darn. We’re only human, but worry not as you can touch it up. Apply it in little dots and pat with your ring finger. Liaise with your wedding Makeup Artist to find out what they will be using, so you know you have the perfect colour match.

2. Blotting papers

Particularly important if you have oilier skin. At some point, your skins natural oils will make a come back. Just sticking powder on top will eventually look ‘cakey’.. So, we need to remove the excess oil BEFORE re-powdering. Blotting papers are an easy no-mess way to remove oil with disturbing your makeup. Press the paper over those shiny spots (most commonly, down the centre of the face) and VOILA, bye-bye shine.

3. Powder and powder puff

I highly suggest you use a pressed ‘ translucent’ powder for this. It reduces the risk of dropping powder particles on that fabulous wedding dress! Once you’ve blotted your skin, gently press the puff into the powder and PRESS onto your skin. NO WIPING. If you’re apply under your eyes, roll the powder puff round your index finger to make it narrow and fit in that area.

4. Setting spray

Setting sprays are great for keeping your makeup in place. Not only that, but re-applying throughout the day will freshen up your makeup. If you feel you have over powdered, spritzing with a setting spray will bring your wedding makeup base back to life. A refreshing spritz will also cool you down if ‘ a scorcher! Pack a mini/travel sized bottle in your wedding makeup touch-up kit, you won’t regret it.

5. Lipstick, lip gloss or tinted lip balm

Its inevitable that you’re going to need to touch up your lip colour, with all that kissing, eating and drinking ! Tinted lip balms are fabulous for natural makeup brides and so easy and comfortable to apply. They’re also REALLY moisturising. Ask your wedding makeup artist what they used and treat yourself to a wedding day lippy.

6. Hair pins

Even the most perfectly pinned effortless wedding hairstyle may need the odd extra pin later on in the day. Maybe you caught your hair on someone whilst giving them a hug. Having a few spares will give you that confidence that it can be quickly sorted. Take the piece of hair to secure and hold in the place you want it to stay. Take your hair pin (kirby grip) and without opening it, push it into the hair. This will ensure its secure and wont slip out.
